                                                             NAMO BUDDHAYA !
                                     Namo Tassa Bhagavato Arahato Samma Sambuddhassa !..
                      Homage to the Blessed One, the Worthy One, the Supremely Enlightened One !..

                                                     Thanha Sutta (Craving) (SN 01)

"Kenassu nīyati loko,-kenassu parikassati;
Kissassu ekadhammassa,-sabbeva vasamanvagū"ti.

"By what is the world led around?
By what is it dragged here and there?
What is the one thing that has
All under its control?"

"Taṇhāya nīyati loko,-taṇhāya pari assati;
Taṇhāya ekadhammassa,-sabbeva vasamanvagū"ti.

"The world is led around by craving;
By craving it‘s dragged here and there.
Craving is the one thing that has
All under its control."

                               Thanha sanyojani sutta – Discourses of  Craving. (Kuddhaka nikaya)

This was said by the Blessed One(Buddha), said by the Arahant (Enlightened Monk), so I have heard:"Monks, I don't envision even one other fetter — fettered by which beings conjoined go wandering and transmigrating on for a long, long time — like the fetter of craving. Fettered with the fetter of craving, beings conjoined go wandering and transmigrating on for a long, long time."

With craving his companion, a man wanders on a long, long time. Neither in this state here nor anywhere else does he go beyond the wandering- on. Knowing this drawback — that craving brings suffering into play — free from craving, devoid of clinging, mindful, the monk lives the mendicant life.

                          Dhamma Chakkappavattana Sutta (Discourses of  Dhamma Wheel)

Monks, the Nobel Truth of the Origin of Suffering is this: it is he craving which produces re-existence accompanied by passionate lust, and finding delight now here, and now there; namely,

01.- craving for sense-pleasures (Kama thanha),

02.- craving for existence (Bhava thanha) and

03.-  craving for non-existence (vibhava thanha).

"Translated from the Pali by Bhikkhu Bodhi , Wisdom Publications"

                Saṁyojanasangasattakā, - Dukkhamupenti punappunaṁ cirāya.

Surrounded by craving,  this people run around frightened like a trapped rabbit. Held fast by mental fetters of defilement, they come to suffering again and again for a long time.
